Georgia has no requirements for home inspector credentials. All you need is a business card, phone number, an on line mail order home inspector credential, or 2 day “quickie training”, and you are a home inspector in Georgia. There’s an old saying that “you can’t talk the talk unless you have walked the walk”. This is very true of the inspection business. Very few inspectors have been in the construction business.
North Georgia Home Inspections and its inspectors did not previously sell telephones, do home repair work on the side, or retire from some other profession. Terry Southern is a professional home inspector meriting the following credentials:
- Over 40 years experience in North Georgia as a real estate developer and residential contractor. He understands residential and commercial construction in the mountains.
- Proud member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI org) with continuing education and recertification since 1998. ASHI was established in 1976 and is the “gold standard” in the inspection business in North America. ASHI is the most respected inspection company with its ASHI Standards for Home Inspection Practice and Procedure, which have been adopted by most states that have licensing requirements.
